Introducing Pathfinders Community, a day program that helps you create a brighter future.
We provide opportunities for neurodiverse people (including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities) to achieve their highest level of independence while building strong character and long-term friendships.
Our Approach
Our vision is to offer services that make neurodiverse people look forward to their future opportunities and quality of life. We aim to bring peace of mind to the neurodivergent community by providing the best services in the following areas:
Socialization
Employment/Purpose
Housing
Transportation
Providing you with a safe space to have fun, socialize, and find your path.
With small class-sizes and individualized goals, our program tailors its services to meet the needs of each participant. We specialize in serving adults who are interested in (1) making high-quality friendships; (2) gaining greater independence; (3) employment or volunteer work; (4) living independently or independently with support.

Our Story
Kimmie Carson
Sister, The Inspiration, and First Participant
Joe Carson
Brother, Founder, and Managing Director
Since we first moved to El Dorado Hills in 2000, our family has been actively exploring services in the neurodivergent community. We love this area, but once Kimmie turned 22 we experienced a serious lack of services that met Kimmie’s unique needs. But Kimmie had a beautiful vision for her future…a vision that’s shared by so many people in the neurodivergent community. It is to be able to hang out with her friends, become more independent, get a job, and eventually live with her friends. I always wanted to help Kimmie actualize her vision, but importantly, I also wanted to ensure Kimmie would thrive after we inevitably outlived our parents. So I figured with some extra effort via the creation of high-quality programs, we could actualize the visions of dozens of people just like her. Unfortunately though, there weren’t any programs available to help us make considerable progress toward our vision.
So I helped develop a program at Dream Catchers EDH that assisted Kimmie in crystallizing her vision (Board President and Executive Director from 2021-2023). I watched in awe as my participants formed strong friendships and reached major independence milestones. As a job coach for Kimmie and a few others, I had the privilege of watching people’s lives change for the better as they got hired and maintained long-term employment. Kimmie was strengthening her social network, becoming more independent, and making serious progress toward her vision. Then came the time for us to branch off and create our own program, where we could actualize our ultimate vision for the neurodivergent community.
Pathfinders Day Program is a place for people who want to build a brighter future and gain their greatest possible level of independence. It’s a place for people who want quality friendships, fun experiences, and a community that celebrates each other’s gifts. We would love for you to join our community and help us co-create this vision.
